A representative of the Center for Organ Recovery and Donation (CORE) also presents current information. CORE is a federally designated non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) whose mission is “promoting donation, education and research for the purpose of saving and improving lives through organ, tissue and cornea transplantation.” CORE’s region encompasses western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Chemung County, NY, a region that includes 155 hospitals and 6 million people.
A physician, such as Peter Abrams, Surgical Director of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program at the Center for Abdominal Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Disease at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA will address students from the clinician's perspective in the field.
