Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) holds the longest running CCELS...

Registration is closed for this event

The first medical school endowed by the Colby Foundation to educate about organ, eye, and tissue donation is Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS).  Since 1997, the generosity of the Colby Foundation's contributors has ensured that the Colby Cassani Endowed Lectureship Series (CCELS) reaches thousands of medical students, faculty, and staff at OSU-CHS.

To inform and to inspire, the 2013 CCELS includes presentations about the scientific, legal, ethical, and personal aspects of donation and transplantation.  Three speakers present to first- and second-year medical students in Dunlap Auditorium.

Stephanie Scott, R.N., organ recovery coordinator for LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma, presents transplantation information..

Jo Ann Winn, executive director of the Sooner Chaper of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, shares information about how organ transplantation changes the lives of people suffering from the disease.

Starla Cassani, co-founder of the Colby Foundation, shares the story of her infant son, Colby--the grief her family experienced at his tragic death and the hope and healing they experienced when lives were saved through donating his organs. Starla and her husband, John Cassani, DO, MBA; a family physician and 1980 graduate of the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, founded the Colby Foundation to help educate about organ, eye, and tissue donation and to share stories of the lives saved from a heartbreaking situation.
