LECOM Bradenton will host its second Colby Cassani Endowed Lectureship Series (CCELS) on Wednesday, Feb. 9th.  LECOMs three campuses were endowed by the Colby Foundation to provide organ donation and organ transplant education to the college’s students through the CCELS.

Several speakers will explore all perspectives of donation and transplantation.  Personal experiences will be shared by Starla Cassani and Warren Tittle.  Mrs. Cassani is the Colby Foundation's founder and trustee and, as Colby's mother, gives the perspective of a donor family.  Warren Tittle, a bilateral lung transplant recipient from Sarasota, FL. will address students and encourage all to sign up to be organ donors.

The medical and clinical perspective will be presented by LECOM alumni Edward Faber Jr., D.O., an assistant professor of oncology/hematology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  He will speak about the work he does with bone marrow transplant patients.

The logistical aspects of arranging for transplantation will be addressed by Melissa Kelley, R.N., C.P.T.C., Vascular Coordinator of LifeLink in Tampa, FL.  The LifeLink Foundation is a non-profit community service organization dedicated to working in a sensitive, diligent, and compassionate manner with donor families to facilitate the donation of desperately needed organs and tissues for waiting patients.

The Colby Foundation is proud to continue its mission to educate others about organ and tissue donation and transplantation!
