LECOM Bradenton [1] will host its first Colby Cassani Endowed Lectureship Series [2] on Friday, Feb. 13, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. LECOM becomes the second medical college in the nation to be chosen by the Colby Foundation to provide organ donation and organ transplant education to the college’s students.
Charles Wright, M.D [3]., Medical Director of LifeLink [4] in Tampa, will address the medical and scientific aspects of organ donation and transplantation in a lecture is entitled: “The Organ Donation Process – An Overview.” Melissa Kelly, RN CPTC of LifeLink will also present.
LifeLink Foundation [5] is a non-profit community service organization dedicated to the recovery of an increasing number of high quality organs and tissue for transplantation therapy. The Foundation attempts to work in a sensitive, diligent, and compassionate manner with donor families to facilitate the donation of desperately needed organs and tissues for waiting patients.
Starla Cassani, the Colby Foundation's founder and trustee, will also speak with the students about the Colby Foundation itself as well as her experience as part of a donor family.
